PAST SERMON NOTES

Every coin and dollar bill in our pockets has a phrase stamped on it: "In God We Trust." We see this phrase so frequently that it often fades into the background. However, today's Scriptures encourage us to take those words from our currency and instill them in our hearts. While it's easy to carry the phrase, truly living by it amidst life's ups and downs is much more challenging.

“I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.” (Ezekiel 34:11) “The sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out…he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.” (John 10:3-4)

“Moreover, some women of our group astounded us…” Luke 24:24 “When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, 'Brothers, what shall we do?” Acts 2:37

“Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” (John 20:29) “Although you have not seen him, you love him…you believe in him, and rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy.” (1 Peter 3:8)

“The Lord had said to Abram, 'Go from your country…to the land I will show you…I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you…and he went.” (Genesis 12:1-4). “It was not through the law that Abraham…received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.” (Romans 4:13). “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

The root of the righteous is immovable…is productive (Proverbs 12:3, 12) “Give your servant a receptive heart… to discern between good and evil.” 1 Kings 3:9 “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24
